Springtime represents renewal and rejuvenation. A changing of the seasons brings an opportunity to try new things and start fresh – so make the most of the 2021 vernal equinox with this spring-centric bucket list.
Refresh Your Wardrobe
With warmer weather comes lighter clothing choices. Traditionally, a seasonal wardrobe was rotated throughout the year by storing winter clothing as springtime rolls around and vice versa. But with modern wardrobe choices using high-tech fabrics and the concept of a fun thing called layers, there’s no need to rotate your wardrobe when the season changes anymore.
It is, however, a great idea to seasonally or annually go through and organize your clothing to make sure that your apparel matches with your style and still fits your figure well (especially after a year spent bunkered down). Kick those 2020 sweatpants to the curb and say hello to some fresh styles you can wear year-round. Ever heard of a capsule wardrobe? Give it a try and watch your closet transform from irritating to inspiring.
Perk Up Your Home
Lighten and brighten up your home this spring season. Swap out worn down textiles – like your living room’s throw blanket that’s seen better days – with a thrifted piece from a local vintage store. Or change out dark bed sheets with an eco-friendly bamboo set, like these. Add life and greenery into your home by picking out a new blooming plant from your neighborhood nursery. Try softening your space with some sheer linen curtains and let the sunlight in.
Plan Something
Whether it’s that long-standing household project or spending time with your mom for Mother’s Day, now is a better time than ever to put something on the books. Mark your calendar for a household outing at a nearby nature trail. Set aside time for that weekend getaway you’ve been holding off on. Whatever it is you’ve been setting aside, a change of season marks the perfect time to do it!
Explore New Territory
While traveling out of the country is less than ideal during a pandemic, there are still plenty of ways to venture somewhere you’ve never been before. From hiking that trail nearby to booking an extended weekend away to camp at the mountains, spring brings the sunshine and warmer weather that are perfect for a new adventure.
Go Green
Start shopping at your neighborhood’s farmers market for locally sourced food and goods. Purchase items from nearby retailers and boutique stores instead of buying from online mega-stores. Recycle, reduce, and reuse household items instead of purchasing brand new. Try a thrifted wardrobe, tote along a reusable coffee mug on your trip to Starbucks, or give meatless Mondays a shot!
