Other than the traditional July 4 celebratory events like lighting sparklers, wearing red, white, and blue get-ups, and watching the fireworks, there are other fun and unique ways to go all-out for this awesome summertime holiday. Keep reading for the scoop!
1. Host a Bike Parade
How cool is this idea? Gather up your friends and family, tote along a speaker for your favorite summertime jams, and pedal your way around town. Dress up in silly, festive outfits and bike around the neighborhood for some good ol’ American fun.
2. Have a Patriotic Potluck
Ditch the standard backyard barbecue idea and switch things up a bit with a patriotic potluck. Try having your guests bring an American-themed food item other than the typical barbecue fare – like a thanksgiving feast, a cake decorated like the U.S. flag, or only red, white, and blue food. Another fun option is to have each person bring a traditional American dish such as hominy grits, drop biscuits and gravy, clam chowder, burgers, and apple pie.
3. Make a Go USA Playlist
No matter what your July 4 festivity is, there’s no harm or foul if you show up with a rockin’ playlist to jam out to. Think of including songs like Sweet Home Alabama, Born in the U.S.A. – basically any 1980’s rock and roll song will get the job done. And mix in hits from the 2000s such as Party In The U.S.A., and American Boy.
4. Bake Patriotic Desserts
Whether it’s just for yourself or meant to impress party guests, baking patriotic desserts is a go-to way to celebrate the holiday. Check out these adorable rainbow waffle ice cream sandwiches or these incredible American flag donuts. Try your hand at these tasty crispy treats with red, white, and blue sprinkles or count on these super easy patriotic pretzels to steal the show.
