Try These 3 Beginner Swimming Strokes

Freestyle Stroke

You must maintain a straight body position to perform the freestyle stroke. To breathe regularly, time your breaths with your strokes and tilt your head to the side. Kick your feet hard and raise your limbs in an alternating pattern, immersing one arm in the water while the other emerges on the other side. The freestyle stroke is one of the most common beginner swimming strokes and provides an amazing full-body aerobic workout.

Breaststroke

To perform the breaststroke, bend your knees and kick your legs below you in the water. Next, move your arms in one motion starting from your chest. The water will naturally lift your head out of the water when you push it away from your face with your arms.

Butterfly Stroke

This technique is one of the more difficult beginner swimming strokes. Use your arms to propel yourself forward by simultaneously crossing both arms over your head and using them to push down into the water. When you kick down, your legs move together like a dolphin's kick, keeping them straight. Butterfly stroke also uses your upper body strength, so practicing it will help you tone your arms, chest, stomach, and back.
