Living a simple lifestyle looks very different for everyone, whether that means slowing down spending, cutting back on scheduled commitments, or decluttering your environment. In honor of National Simplicity Day, here are a few of our favorite tips and tricks for simplifying your life.

1. Keep a List Around

Busy schedules, jam-packed days, racing thoughts, and daily interruptions all lead to added stress. Keep a little notebook or journal around at all times to jot down reminders and “oh-yeahs” for a clutter-free brain. At the end of the day, pop into the notebook and add those reminders to your official calendar or cross a few things off the list once the task is complete.

2. Declutter Your Home

Oh, come on! You had to see this one coming. A messy home means a messy life. Clear the clutter from your environment and watch your life become way less stressful. Think through your daily routine and find ways to streamline it. Start with the bedroom: Remove excess clutter from surfaces, put away clothes, invest in a nice laundry hamper, and set up a bedside table with all your morning time/night time essentials. Work your way into the bathroom and do the same. Move onto the kitchen and living areas, where you’ll repeat the same process: Ditch the duplicates, remove clutter from surfaces, ask yourself if items belong in that space, and tidy things up.

3. Clean Up Your Wardrobe

Whether you work from home, commute into an office, or just endlessly dig through your wardrobe anytime you need to head out the door, this tip will seriously simplify your routine. Forget pushing past nine pairs of jeans to get to your favorite T-shirt. It’s time to do a donation haul in your closet. 4. Make More at Dinner

If you’re a fan of leftovers, making extra food during dinner preparation means you’ll have lunch for tomorrow – and even the next day and the day after that. And if you really want to go for it, try meal prepping for a few hours on Sunday nights for an effortless week of grab-and-go nourishment.
