Houston is home to several speakeasies tucked away in the streets around town. In fact, several of them are hidden inconspicuously in plain sight! Which of these hidden bars have you stumbled upon, if any at all?
Mongoose vs. Cobra (Midtown)
Some people have heard of this bar in passing. However, it's not as easy to find as you might think. Their door iconically doesn't bare a sign and half of the building seems to be hidden by ivy. This hasn't stopped this hidden bar from being named one of Houston's best beer bars, as well as one of the prettiest. If beer is your boozy beverage of choice, you're going to want to check out their collection of over 40 craft beers available for your consumption. This is a must-see speakeasy!
Lola's Depot (Fourth Ward)
There's a good chance you've driven past this local hotspot without even realizing it! In fact, upon arrival, you may feel like you've shown up on someone's front porch, as this unmarked speakeasy looks quite similar to the average house (except for the purple paint). The hole-in-the-wall bar is free from rowdy crowds and is well known as a chill, hangout spot. They have pool tables, a great drink selection, and an amicable staff.
Captain Foxheart's Bad News Bar (Downtown)
Off South Main, right next to the sign reading "The Law Offices of Tucker Graves" is an unmarked door. Take a step through, climb the creaky stairs and open the time-worn wooden door on the left to make your way into one of Houston's best-kept secrets!
Any one (or two if you dare) of these hidden bars across Houston are sure to turn any night into an unforgettable adventure. For more local recommendations or events around Houston, please feel free to contact us today.
