A scenic destination, Bachman Lake stretches 205 acres and welcomes hundreds of boaters every year. It also draws those looking to enjoy up-close views of the planes landing at and departing from Love Field Airport. After your picnic, take a scenic walk on the paved trails, or discover the activities at the Bachman Recreation Center.
Turtle Creek Park
What was once a gathering place for the Texas Rangers is now a natural oasis offering an escape from daily life. Turtle Creek Park dates back to at least 1892. It's the second oldest park in Dallas and is known as one of the city's gems. Along with picnicking, you can also discover the Hastings Garden, Hibiscus Fountain, and nostalgic playing courts. The courts were originally built in the 1930s, and include shuffleboard and a putting green. Turtle Creek Park is open daily, from 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Klyde Warren Park
Welcoming over one million visitors annually, Klyde Warren Park is a lively destination offering everything from movie nights to free Zumba classes. The park opened in 2012. It has since earned national acclaim and features a unique setting built over a recessed eight-lane freeway. You'll find plenty of places to spread a picnic blanket, and if you don't want to pack a basket, grab a bite from one of the food trucks.
