Young horse at a ranch near Union at Carrollton Square in Carrollton, Texas

Did you know that in addition to being fun, horseback riding also provides a good form of cardiovascular exercise?

If you would like to enjoy some horseback riding, then visit one of these destinations near our Carrollton apartments that offer everything from lessons to guided trail rides:

When David Alexander and Jeff Cook decided to share their passion for horses, they started Widowmaker Trail Rides. They also founded the Southlake Mounted Patrol, where they volunteer during parades, festivals, and high school football games. Visitors may recognize David, as when he's not leading trail rides, he plays a robber aboard the Grapevine Railroad.

The guided rides explore the Walnut Grove Trail along Lake Grapevine. This picturesque area stretches approximately 1,000 acres, and the horses lead through meadows, dense woods, and trickling creeks. The tours welcome those of all abilities, and riders receive a proper saddle fitting before setting out.

The small team at Full Circle Riding emphasizes safety and fun. Owner Stephanie Symonds began riding at the age of two. By 13, she taught horseback-riding lessons and later worked with some of the best trainers in the barrel-racing industry. Stephanie has won numerous awards and continues to compete.

The lessons run year-round, with adults riding on Thursday evenings. They range from beginner to advanced, and all students start by saddling and leading their horse into the riding arena.

Nestled along the western edge of Flower Mound, the 40-acre J Ranch features a horseback riding run. Both beginning and seasoned riders are welcome. Everyone learns new skills during the Western or English-style lessons, and the sessions are both innovative and challenging.

The ranch also offers trail rides along the Cross Timbers Trailhead. This trail ranks as one of the most scenic equine paths in the Metroplex, and riders can choose a 60- or 90-minute adventure.

Horseback riding is just one of the activities that you can enjoy as a resident of our Carrollton, TX apartments. If you want to call our community home, then please contact us. We would love to schedule a personalized tour.
