We all want to do our part to make our community a better place – especially during trying times like these. Be it volunteering your time or donating money to a worthy cause, here are a few ways you can give back to the community in Carrollton.

Give Blood

The need for blood donation is constant, but it’s especially pressing in the midst of a pandemic. There are a variety of places you can give blood close to home, including Biomat USA in Carrollton, Carter BloodCare in Addison, or American Red Cross in Dallas.

Volunteer for the City

The city of Carrollton is always looking for volunteers. Help out with community events, clean up the Carrollton Greenbelt, place storm drain markers, or lend a helping hand to the Parks and Recreation Department or the libraries.

Donate to Carrollton’s Animal Services and Adoption Center

Donate cash or supplies to Carrollton’s Animal Services and Adoption Center. Give $15, $25, or $50 for a leaf on the center’s Tree of Life or sponsor a cat cage for $60, a dog kennel for $120 or Get to Know You Room for $500. You can also donate food and supplies. Check the Animal Services website for needed items or call the center at (972) 466-3420.

Dallas Furniture Bank

Donate furniture you no longer need or volunteer your time at Dallas Furniture Bank. DFB provides furniture to families transitioning from homelessness.

Give to Lost Paws Rescue of Texas

We love pets here at Union at Carrollton Square! If you do, too, consider giving to Lost Paws Rescue of Texas. This all-volunteer, no-kill organization fosters and finds forever homes for rescues.

Donate to Operation Kindness

Operation Kindness provides assistance to animals in need of medical care, companionship, and a home. They aren’t currently accepting volunteer applications amid the COVID-19 pandemic, but you can still chip in by donating.

Donate or Volunteer to 4theONE Foundation

This nonprofit has a mission to find and recover missing, exploited, and trafficked teens. The organization helps families at no charge. You can help 4theONE by donating your time or money.

Become a Crisis Text Line Counselor

Help people by becoming a crisis counselor with the Crisis Text Line. This free, nationwide organization provides 24/7 support for people in crisis. Counselors are trained in techniques to handle crisis situations and can work from anywhere via their computer.
