Why not elevate your workout routine by adding in some time outdoors, while the weather is still cooler. Here’s a look at four places to take your fitness outdoors during the cool season.

Elm Fork Nature Preserve

Spend some quality time with just you, and nature! The Elm Fork Nature Preserve is a peaceful nature preserve in Carrollton, offering a short walking trail for quick walks through the woodlands area, and a small pond to admire. Make sure to read the tree markers while walking, they each give a little insight to the trees you are looking at.

Nob Hill Greenbelt: Carrollton Blue Trail

If you’re looking for a long paved trail for a walk, jog, run, or bike ride, with a beautiful view along the way, Blue Trail is it. The trail covers roughly 7.8 miles out and back, giving you more distance for your workouts. The trail is open to leashed dogs, so bring your pup along for some exercise for the both of you.

Arbor Hills Nature Preserve

The impressive Arbor Hills Nature Preserve in Plano, Texas, offers 200 acres of nature preserve, featuring a unique trail system, a playground, picnic pavilions, and restrooms. Whether you’re looking to walk, jog, or hike, the trail system is set up with paved and unpaved trails to check out. Looking to cycle? Bring your bike and explore the designated off-road cycling trail that’s approximately 2.8 miles long. As with any nature preserve, you’ll want to watch for and respect wild animals and their home.

Sam Houston Trail Park

Located in Irving, Texas, the Sam Houston Trail is a coveted piece of tranquility in the DFW area. Be prepared to walk, jog, or cycle the beautiful and wide paved trail, with scenery that never gets old. If you visit in the springtime, you’ll witness an abundance of wildflower blooms, like the beautiful Texas bluebonnets.
