Enjoy These Birdwatching Spots Near Carrollton
If you enjoy watching nature's feathery creatures, you are not alone. Over 46 million Americans call themselves bird-watchers. When you're ready to look for wrens, eagles, and other birds, here are a few places near our Carrollton apartments you don't want to miss:
Trinity River Audubon Center
Visit the Trinity River Audubon Center to explore the country's largest hardwood forest. It restores and protects habitats for an array of bird species. Watch for American kestrels. Called North America's smallest falcons, they're about the size of mourning doves. They are graceful in flight, and when perched, they often bob their tails. Other birds include little blue herons, pileated woodpeckers, and scissor-tailed flycatchers.
Cedar Hill State Park
You'll feel a world away from the city at Cedar Hill State Park. It's nestled along the shore of Joe Pool Lake and is home to approximately 200 bird species. Painted buntings draw visitors from near and far between May and August. Year-round, watch for Bewick's wrens, red-tailed hawks, and loggerhead shrikes. After some bird-watching fun, go for a swim or enjoy an afternoon of fishing or kayaking.
White Rock Lake
Stretching over 1,000 acres, White Rock Lake is one of the most popular parks in the Dallas Park System. It's home to the Audubon Society bird-watching area and draws dozens of species, from ducks to charming brown thrashers. Look for American white pelicans. Fun to watch, they use their long bills to scoop fish out of the water. At times, they work with other pelicans to herd the fish into the shallows for easier feeding.
After a long day of bird-watching, refuel with a gourmet pizza at a local restaurant. If you would like to call Lux on Main home and live in this convenient neighborhood, please contact us. Our leasing team will show you everything our apartments in Carrollton have to offer.
