Pools, pups, and pals are the best way to bid farewell to the summer season. The City of Carrollton is hosting a Pooch Pool Party at the Rosemeade Rainforest Aquatic Complex on September 11. Entry is $5 per pup and their humans attend for free. There will also be onsite rabies vaccinations and city registrations for your pets.

Your pup can play in the water, take part in a skills competition, or enter to win best dressed. Here are a few costume ideas to make sure your dog has its day at the Pooch Pool Party this year.

Summer Vacation Chic

It’s a pool party, let your pup put on their most flattering swimsuit and get in the water. Fit your pooch for some vacation-style Hawaiian board trunks or slinky two-piece bikini. Don’t forget a pair of swimming goggles to help your underwater diving dog. It’s practical and completes the look.

Straight From Atlantis

If you’re looking for a more elaborate costume, stick with the water theme but kick it up a notch. If your little princess is an Ariel look alike, there’s an outfit for that. It even turns their tail into a tail (it makes the doggy paddle look more elegant)! Worried about fitting your dog for a wig? You can always try the Flounder costume instead.

If You Can’t Beat Em, Bite Em

Well, hopefully not actually bite – but a good scare works too. Strike fear in the heart of your dog’s competitors with a shark life jacket. They’ll see that fin coming and head for the hills. It’s easy to win a contest when you're the only one around. It’s also a great outfit for those pups who aren’t strong swimmers,
