One of the amazing species of birds you can find at Benbrook Lake near Olympus Team Ranch in Benbrook, Texas.

Give bird watching a try at Benbrook Lake! This outdoor pastime is an easy way to get outside, enjoy nature, and become better acquainted with local wildlife.

Luckily for our residents, one of the best birding hotspots in the Dallas-Forth Worth area is near Olympus Team Ranch apartments in Benbrook, Texas.

North Holiday Park is located on the western shore of Benbrook Lake. With an array of hiking, horseback riding, fishing, swimming, and boating opportunities, the park has plenty to offer any outdoors enthusiast. For bird watchers specifically, North Holiday Park and the surrounding lakeside area feature a wide range of bird-friendly habitats. The shoreline, riparian areas, mudflats, prairies, woodlands, and Benbrook Lake host a variety of birdlife with different species preferring each unique area.

According to eBird, around 260 species have been recorded by birders in the day-use area of North Holiday Park. Kingbirds, flycatchers, and cedar waxwings visit the tall trees along the shoreline. Painted buntings and northern bobwhites have been found in the brush around the park. Double-crested cormorants, American white pelicans, and several gull species frequent the lake and shoreline. The lake's inlet attracts wading birds like herons and egrets plus waterfowl such as wood ducks. Any area of North Holiday Park is potentially a great location to find birds!

If you've ever wanted to try your hand at bird photography, North Holiday Park has a photography blind along its hiking trail. Positioned on the north bank at the mouth of the Trinity River, this spot gives you great views of shorebirds, waterfowl, swallows, ospreys, and wading birds. All you need is a camera and a little patience to get great shots of our local avifauna.

Early mornings are the ideal time to witness the most bird activity. Your best chances to see the greatest diversity of birds are during spring and fall migration when birds are traveling between their northern breeding grounds and their winter homes. Inland bodies of water along the Central Flyway serve as refueling stations for birds on their long journeys. However, Benbrook Lake and North Holiday Park have a great variety of birds to see throughout the year.

Bird watching is just one of many activities that make living in Benbrook so appealing. If you'd like to find out more about leasing our apartments in Benbrook, Texas contact us. We look forward to hearing from you!
