We may be three-quarters of the way through the year, but that doesn’t mean we’re done with summer just yet. Take advantage of the remaining hot days and warm summers nights with these five ways to squeeze the last bit of fun out of summer.
Picnic in the Park
Summer isn’t summer without a picnic at the park. Pack up lunch or dinner, grab a blanket, plates, and utensils for dining alfresco at your favorite park. Located not too far from Olympus Hillwood, McKnight Park offers a large sheltered picnic area and several green spaces to choose from where you can soak up some fresh air and sunshine while you dine.
Hit the Links
It’s not too late to spend your day strolling the green and sinking putts. Old Fort Golf Course is located along the banks of the majestic Stones River and regarded as one of Tennessee’s top golf courses. Grab your face mask and your friends, and head for this beautiful course in nearby Murfreesboro.
Host a Barbecue
Gather with close friends and family and share your best summer memories with an end-of-summer barbecue. Invite everyone to bring along their favorite side dish, which takes the stress out of providing all of the food, and allows others to show off their cooking skills. All socially responsible, of course.
Attend a Farmers Market
Don’t let this season slip away without attending a farmers market. The Murfreesboro Saturday Farmers Market offers more than 50 vendors who serve homegrown and local produce, homemade cakes and pies, beef, pork, chicken, farm-fresh eggs, flowers, jams and jellies, and so much more. The market runs each Saturday from 8 AM to noon, through the end of September.
Hike, Bike, or Walk
Take advantage of comfortable temperatures and the great outdoors with a few new hikes or bike rides. The Greenway Searcy Trailhead offers a beautiful walk in nature, with trails great for walking, hiking, and biking. The Cason trailhead is another local’s favorite, with a walking and biking trail that runs along a little river.
Summer isn’t over yet. Soak up every last bit of it before it’s too late with these five sweet summertime activities. For more tips on living the good life, visit the Olympus Hillwood blog.
