If you’ve NEVER had a breakfast burrito, you’re getting one tomorrow morning. If you’ve EVER had a breakfast burrito, you’re getting one tomorrow morning – at least you will if you read on. Here are three breakfast burrito spots you absolutely must try in Albuquerque. Be warned, you will become addicted to at least one – don’t say we didn’t give you a heads up.
The Burrito Lady
Although dubbed The Burrito Lady, this is an actual restaurant – not a woman on the corner. Located at the intersection of Lomas and Eubank, stop in to grab a breakfast burrito with your choice of meat (or just veggies, if you prefer) for under $5. Smother it with green chile for $2 more. Creator Consuelo Flores will undeniably delight you with her authentic and flavorful take on Albuquerque’s most popular breakfast food.
Tia Betty Blue’s
Serving up classic handheld breakfast burritos with eggs, potatoes, and cheese, plus salsa, red, or green chile, Tia Betty Blue’s is a New Mexico staple. Excellent news for late risers, breakfast is served all day. Burritos are $4.50; the smothered option is just $1 more. And your honorary tia is so kind that she offers up vegetarian and vegan chile options, as well. Come find out why nearly 1,100 Google reviewers have rated this spot 4.6 out of 5 stars.
We’d never admit Taco John’s was onto something when they crammed tater tots into their burritos, but facts are facts – it tastes damn good. And that’s why we’ll proudly shout from the mountaintops that ABQ Burrito & Burger has one of the best breakfast burritos we’ve ever inhaled. Stop by their Candelaria Road location, just off I-25, anytime after 6:30 a.m. Monday through Friday or 8 a.m. on Saturday (closed on Sundays) to start your day off the best way. The chile relleno breakfast burrito is otherworldly, bursting with eggs, Christmas queso, tots, and your choice of chile. Incredibly, there isn’t a line around the block every morning – but we certainly aren’t complaining.
