Downtown Savannah, Georgia, near Walden at Chatham Center

Savannah is not only one of the most beautiful cities in the South, but it is the perfect place for residents who love a leisurely day trip. There are countless beautiful sights to see within an easy drive.

The Golden Isles

The four islands peppered between Savannah and Jacksonville, Florida (St. Simons, Sea Island, Jekyll Island, and Little St. Simons) are an ideal destination for a day trip. In just over an hour, you can enjoy everything these islands have to offer – golf, historic landmarks, five-star restaurants, galleries, and museums. Or kick back and enjoy a simple day lounging on the beach in the sultry Georgia sunshine.

Savannah National Wildlife Refuge

In less than half an hour, you’ll find yourself on more than 28,000 acres of the most beautiful land in Georgia. Bring your camera and binoculars, for you will find every bird you can imagine here: wood storks, ducks, geese, bald eagles, great horned owls, osprey, and countless others. And in the spring and fall, you’ll likely catch a glimpse of Georgia gators warming themselves in the sun.

Charleston, South Carolina

A two-hour drive will find you in the historic, cobblestoned streets of downtown Charleston, the oldest city in South Carolina. Take a two-hour walking tour and learn all about the city’s history. There are so many walking tours available, that you can even find one that will show you the paranormal hotspots in town.

Tybee Island

If you want to spend less time in the car and more time relaxing, this is the place for you. You can unwind on the three miles of beach, sightsee at nearby Little Tybee, or enjoy recreational activities like kayaking, jet-skiing, and boating.

Jacksonville, Florida

This city is the perfect destination for beach lovers, but also for travelers who love to stay active. Jacksonville has a dynamic surfing and diving community, thanks to its 22 miles of beaches and more than 30 offshore and inshore artificial reefs. And if you’re searching for something a little more daring, drop by the World Skydiving Center and get ready to take the leap of a lifetime.
