Did you know that the word milkshake was first referenced in print in 1885?
At that time, whiskey was one of the main ingredients.
Originally served in bars, the customer would tip the bartender and shake his hand if he liked the drink. That's how the milkshake got its name!
Today milkshakes are popular at restaurants and ice cream shops alike, and the most popular destinations in Jacksonville include:
M Shack
M Shack opened in 2011 and is known for redefining the old-fashioned burger joint with fresh ingredients prepared in an inviting atmosphere. It is also famous for its hand-spun shakes, and the dining area is complete with exposed brick, dark wood, and colorful works of art. There are several milkshakes to choose from including Oreo cheesecake, bananas foster, and pecan pie, and they pair well with burgers such as Sunrise and Insanity.
Johnny Angel's
Johnny Angel's is a retro diner that takes guests back in time to the 1950s. It's where everyone knows your name, and the friendly owners are always onsite. The eatery opened in 1983, and the cooks make the meals from scratch and hand-dip the milkshakes such as Snickers, chocolate, and mango.
The Loop
The Loop is Jacksonville's original fast-casual restaurant, and it's owned by Mike and Terry Schneider who wanted to create a place where the meals were served quickly in an upscale, yet casual atmosphere. All of the guests are treated like family, and they can enjoy a leisurely evening with family and friends. The menu includes a variety of meals as well as hand-dipped milkshakes such as Oreo, vanilla, and strawberry.
