Mountain biking is a fun way to spend time outdoors while at the same time improving your muscle tone and sleep quality.
When you're ready to enjoy this activity, the best nearby biking trails include:
Little Talbot Island State Park
Exploring Little Talbot Island's untouched beach is a unique experience. It's one of only a few undeveloped barrier islands remaining in northeast Florida and features diverse ecosystems, white sand, and fallen trunks of cedar and palm. Cyclists can enjoy three miles of dedicated biking trails, and along the way, they take in both forest and coastal views.
Jacksonville Baldwin Rail Trail
Spanning approximately 14.5 miles, the Jacksonville Baldwin Rail Trail is part of a federal Rails to Trails program which turns abandoned railroad lines into linear parks. The trail meanders through woodlands and wetlands, and it's where riders may spot hawks, kingfishers, and wild turkeys.
Fort George Island Cultural State Park
Fort George is an island escape that welcomes both outdoor enthusiasts and history buffs alike. The trail offers a loop bicycle ride through history, and it traverses the interior of the former Fort George Island Golf Course. The path spans just over four miles, and it's suitable for bikes with large tires.
Amelia Island State Park
Amelia Island protects more than 200 miles of unspoiled wilderness. The Timucuan originally inhabited the land, and generations later, European settlers established profitable plantations that grew things such as citrus and sugarcane. Cyclists can pedal along the Timucuan Trail bike path which connects to Peters Point Park. Riders of all ages and abilities are encouraged to wear helmets.
