If you’re like us, most mornings, you start your day with a home-brewed cup o’ joe (or whatever’s available for free in that stained pot in your office). But every now and then, you deserve a little treat. Wake up with coffee brewed to perfection – and something delicious to tide you over until lunch – at one of these top-notch cafes in Jacksonville.
Le Petit Paris
Le Petit does coffee and tea right. And don’t even get us started about their baked goods. Open 7 days a week starting at 8 AM, order coffee or espresso (with almond milk and a wide variety of flavored syrups, if you must), plus a toasted croissant, quiche, or French baguette – like the Le Germain with prosciutto ham, mozzarella, green pesto, shaved parmesan, and arugula.
Beginning at 6:30 a.m. every day of the week, Southern Grounds fills up quickly – and for good reason. Place a to-go order online to skip the wait. Choose from bagels, baked goods, or upscale specialties, like a Greek omelet with lamb meat, feta, tomatoes, spinach, onion, housemade tzatziki, and dill or sourdough toast with goat cheese, Bartlett pear, thyme, sea salt, and honey. As far as caffeine goes, we highly recommend the cafe con leche: dark roast drip coffee, with a double shot of espresso, topped with steamed half and half.
Chamblin’s Uptown Cafe
With vegan options and breakfast served all day, plus a bookstore where you can trade in old reads for credit toward new titles, this place is just plain neat. Grab a bagel or grits and a hot or iced latte (with unique syrup options like white mocha, lavender, and elderflower), then browse the aisles in awe. Yelpers say it’s “one of the best bookstores in the United States.” Come see for yourself.
