Looking for a little more excitement in your life? Or perhaps you’re a bit of an adrenaline junkie? Whether you need to shake things up or can’t get through a week without a serious adventure that sets your heart hammering, Jacksonville has something for you.
Skydiving
The flat landscape and moderate winter weather make skydiving a popular activity in Florida. Try out the World Skydiving Center, just 15 minutes from downtown Jacksonville. You’ll get a stunning view of the ocean as you plummet toward earth in this heart-pounding adventure. All experience levels are welcome – you can even complete training to become a certified skydiver.
Surfing
Catch a wave at Jacksonville Beach Pier, Atlantic Beach, or several other nearby beaches. There’s a wave for surfers of all experience levels along the Florida coast. Best of all, the surfing conditions are usually at their prime in winter, when most everyone else around the country is bundled up in parkas and boots.
Hang Gliding
How about an aerial adventure? A short drive will get you to Florida Adventure Sports where you can take a ride with a FAA certified pilot in an Airborne XT-912. Powered hang gliding (a.k.a. trike flying) will get you over 1,000 feet high, where you’ll experience views like you’ve never seen before.
Diving
Did you know Jacksonville features more than thirty offshore and inshore artificial reefs, making it a hotspot for diving? You’ll get to see all kinds of different fish from tarpon to grouper. And maybe even a shark or two. Check out these diving outfitters to book your trip.
