We all know that DIY and making our own things saves us money. The added bonus of having unique, one-of-a-kind pieces makes it all that much better. With a low budget and a little time, create your own kind of merry with these holiday decorations you can make at home.
No fireplace? No problem! Create a cozy scene inside your home simply using a large hanging canvas and some paint. Paint the canvas black, and use some white chalk paint to create a fireplace setting. Complete the space with throw pillows and blankets surrounding it, and add a small tree for the full Christmas effect.
The best part about homemade garland is that you can make some that is reusable year-over-year. Choose from standard Christmas colors like red and green or go colorful with multiple colors to create this one-of-a-kind felt garland. Another option is to get some wool felt balls and create a fun pom pom garland to string along the tree, a bartop, or shelf.
Dried Citrus Garland
Dried citrus is an easy DIY that makes a simple holiday statement piece. Make the garland to drape along a Christmas tree, or create single ornaments and place them on a bare twig, with other ornaments to dress it up a bit.
You can never have too many ornaments, and if you do… make a wreath! This genius idea takes little effort and you can use old ornaments or simply purchase new inexpensive ones. And the best part — you can create one using a color palette you love.
Bottle Brush Tree Arrangement
Take some ordinary bottle brush trees and “spruce” them up with some spray paint and glitter. For the added snow effect, spray only the tops with white spray paint and glitter for snow. Place them on a tabletop, kitchen counter, or shelf for a winter wonderland scene.
