Learn About Dinosaurs and the Earth at This Geological Museum in Casper
We’ve all been curious about what the Earth looked like at the time when dinosaurs roamed. With the help of paleontologists, we can learn about and see real-life artifacts that have been unearthed. Near our Casper apartments at Granite 550, you’ll find the Tate Geological Museum.
Special Events
One way to enjoy the museum's offerings is to attend a lecture or special event. You'll hear from geologists, university professors, and others covering topics that include ancient marine environments. You can also check out past lectures to get an idea of what kind of topics are covered or catch up on ones that you’ve missed.
Exhibits
When you stop into the museum, you can view many interesting exhibits. A popular one is Dee the Mammoth. Dee is the fossil of a Columbian Mammoth that lived over 11,600 years ago. A worker discovered the bones while digging at an oil well pad site in 2006.
In addition to Dee, you can check out other exhibits like the Hall of Minerals, Eocene of Wyoming, and the Prep Lab. At these exhibits, you will see lab specimens being cleaned and prepped behind a glass window.
Support the Museum
While regular admission to the museum is always free, donations help to keep it running. You can support the museum by becoming a member. For just $18-$36 you can enjoy special member benefits like events and a discount at the gift shop. As a member, you also gain the opportunity to hold special events like birthday parties at the museum.
Another way to help out is to donate your time as a volunteer. Simply print and fill out the application and bring it to the museum to start the process.
