Buy Local at the Farmers and Crafts Market of Las Cruces

Enjoy the Best Local Gems at the Farmers & Crafts Market of Las Cruces

Las Cruces is a vibrant and exciting city with a rich culture full of history and tradition. Every Wednesday and Saturday, you can learn about that history from the vendors at the Farmers and Crafts Market of Las Cruces. Luckily for you, the market is only minutes away from our apartments in Las Cruces!

The Wednesday Market, located at Plaza de Las Cruces, is a bit smaller and more relaxed, while the Saturday Market, located in Plaza de Las Cruces, has almost 300 vendors and stretches seven blocks! Both markets run from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The vendors sell handmade and locally grown products. Plus there are plenty of food vendors to pick up lunch, and you can enjoy live music and entertainment or watch the artists at work!

What Can You Buy?

The vendors at the market truly include a little bit of everything. The market started in 1971 with a few local farmers, but quickly grew to include baked goods, then local crafters and artists. Now, it is so large that in 2011 it was named the "Number One Large Farmer's Market in the Nation" by America's Farmland Trust. Currently, the market offers jewelry, metalwork, photography, glasswork, art, ceramics, fiber work, stones, furniture, clothing, local produce, baked goods, and much more. So much of Las Cruces' culture is represented in these crafters and artisans. Plus, many of the vendors are seasonal, so there's something new to see each time you visit!

What Can You Eat?

Local farmers and bakers aren't the only ones offering food at the market. Many food trucks and other vendors offer prepared food and are ready to serve you breakfast or lunch. Pick up classic favorites like pizza, find some homemade kombucha, or try local foods such as Navajo tacos and other traditional New Mexican dishes. The market is also affordable for everyone and most vendors accept WIC, SNAP, and Double Up Food Bucks.

Learn About the Culture

The Farmers and Crafts Market of Las Cruces has a long history of celebrating the local culture of New Mexico. Local performers are stationed around the market with live musical performances for you to enjoy while you shop. The market also offers booths to local non-profit and community groups. Plus, you can learn more about the local traditions from many of the artists and crafters at the fair who do live demonstrations at their booths. Preserving, celebrating, and educating the public on Las Cruces' history has been an important part of the market for years, and will be one of the most exciting parts of your visit.

The Famers and Crafts Market of Las Cruces offers something for everyone and will take care of most of your weekly shopping in one stop! This is just one of the exciting events happening around our Las Cruces apartments. The only thing you might not be able to do at the market is find your next favorite book, but check out these great bookstores for that!
