PET-FRIENDLY RUNNING TRAILS NEAR GILBERT

Our canine companions love adventure as much as you do. Running alongside you is a great way for the two of you to bond and an awesome strategy to exercise your four-legged pal. Fortunately, there are plenty of dog-friendly trails nearby. Check out our list of great trails that take you beyond the city and into the Arizona landscape you love.

Go John Trail, Cave Creek Regional Park

If you are looking for a longer, moderate loop trail, Go John Trail is for you and your pet pal. This trail is the perfect challenge for runners looking for that stellar combination of hills and scenery. At just under 6 miles in length, you’ll enjoy one towering Saguaro cactus after another as well as a quintessential Arizona landscape.

Hidden Valley, South Mountain Park & Preserve

South Mountain Park and Preserve is one of the largest urban parks in the U.S. and boasts no shortage of challenging runs. Access Hidden Valley trail from the Mormon Trail for an awesome climb that features amazing views of the valley as you gain altitude. At the top, try a squeeze through Fat Man’s Pass (or hike around) and celebrate your achievement before returning the way you came.

Dynamite, San Tan Mountain Regional Park

With a number of trails to choose from, San Tan Mountain Regional Park is the perfect run for you and Fido. Park at Goldmine Trailhead and an out and back on Dynamite to net almost 5 miles of perfect trail with moderate elevation gain. But, go early – this park is popular!

Brittlebush & Crest Trail, Silly Mountain Park

For a quick and short loop trail, head to Silly Mountain Park and run the Britlebush and Crest Trail. Relax into your pace with this mostly flat trail and enjoy a stunning perspective of the greater Phoenix valley.

Siphon Draw Trail, Lost Dutchman State Park

This 4-mile out and back trail winds its way up Siphon Draw, a canyon that gets you deeper into the incredible Superstition Mountains. With the Sonoran Desert landscape as your view – this trail is a must-do.
