If you are craving Mexican food tonight, you’re in luck. Gilbert is home to some of the best Mexican restaurants in the region. There are so many to choose from, but don’t worry – we’ll help you out with this list of our favorites.
Joyride Taco House
The name of this establishment tells you everything you need to know. It’s all about the chill factor and the good food. Their menu features burritos, salads, and of course, tacos, which are bursting with fresh, flavorful ingredients like cilantro, slow roasted chicken, tomatillo salsa, and avocado. Make sure to try the Baja fish taco or the Pork Adobada, two customer favorites.
La Ristra
Named after the stringed chiles that feature prominently in every dish, this restaurant is all about New Mexican cuisine. They buy their chiles from suppliers in our neighboring state because New Mexican chiles are some of the spiciest and most flavorful in the world. Try the Green Chile Tacos, Fajita Burrito, or the Green Chile Pork Stew. And be sure to order sopapillas for dessert!
Barrio Queen
If you want authentic Mexican food – the real deal – this is the restaurant for you. An entire page of their menu is dedicated to tacos which feature beef, pork, chicken, seafood, and even sautéed cactus, mushrooms, and spinach for the vegetarians. You’ll definitely want to try the selection of tortas – sandwiches served on a toasted telera roll, featuring ingredients like Azteca beef and carne asada.
Nando’s Mexican Café
A fixture in Gilbert since 2003, this eatery was conceived by two friends who wanted to showcase the best of Sonoran-style Mexican cuisine. Favorites include Alfredo’s Green Chile Pork, which features pork in a Hatch green chile sauce, topped with Monterey Jack cheese, and Enchiladas Del Mar, for those of you who love crab and shrimp. And don’t forget to try Nando’s
Someburros
A family-owned established since 1972, this restaurant celebrates the way good food keeps families together. Everybody loves their soft tacos (try the Pollo Asado) and the Borracho Burro (filled with green chile beef and covered with green chile sauce). You can even head over for breakfast – they have plenty of breakfast burros and tacos.
