Summer’s not over yet. Like the final attack from a cheesy horror movie villain you naively thought was dead, the month of August hits you with one last blast of sweltering heat before the summer sequel in 2022. It’s like the weather equivalent of the Fast and Furious franchise. You can run and hide in all the air-conditioned locations you want, but summer will find you sooner or later. That doesn’t mean you have to go gently. And while ice-cold desserts and beverages may not be enough to defeat the summer sun, you don’t need it to defeat it. You just need to survive until fall. With that in mind, here are three spots with cool treats to beat back the summer heat.

Cream of The Crop

What you see is what you get with this stylish little ice cream parlor. With in-house creations and fun variations on classic flavors, you’re sure to find a new frozen favorite. Cream of the Crop also offers a variety of toppings, including fresh fruit for banana splits.

Frost Gelato

Now we could get into the science of why gelato isn’t technically ice cream, but here’s the short version: It’s thicker and more flavorful than standard store-bought ice cream. And while that statement alone makes it worth a visit, Frost Gelato doesn’t stop there. They also offer made-to-order gelato cakes, as well as a variety of hot and iced coffee beverages – many of which are, you guessed it, gelato flavored.

Liquid nitrogen. It’s not just for freezing assassin robots from the future anymore. The big brains over at Creamistry use science to add a flavor-enhancing twist on classic ice cream. While your standard ice cream is pumped and churned with air, Creamistry uses liquid nitrogen to freeze their ice cream instantly. The result is a richer, creamier taste. Creamistry’s expansive menu has something for everyone, offering vegan, dairy-free, and organic items as well as non-dairy sorbets.
