For a fun afternoon in the sun, pack a picnic basket full of goodies and head to a local park. You can also enjoy other activities like basketball and horseshoes. The best picnic destinations near our Gilbert apartments include:
Veterans Oasis Park
Spanning 113 acres, Veterans Oasis Park is home to unique Sonoran Desert flowers and wildlife. It features scenic hiking, monthly bird walks, and a community lake offering plenty of fishing fun. You'll also find a solar system walk. Providing an out-of-this-world experience, the footpath showcases signs and monuments representing the sun, planets, and celestial objects. Before trying the different activities, enjoy your picnic at one of the pavilions.
Freestone Park
When Freestone opened in 1988, it became Gilbert's first district park. Today, it stretches 120 acres and draws visitors who come to enjoy recreational fun. The park also offers picnic tables with and without barbecue grills. They feature stunning views and are perfect for enjoying your fried chicken lunch with macaroni salad and ice-cold lemonade. Park activities include basketball, tennis, fishing, and even Checkers. Daily park hours are from 5:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Pioneer Park
A popular picnic destination, Pioneer Park features picnic ramadas where you can gather with family and friends. It's one of the oldest parks in the East Valley. While Pioneer boasts a few historic features, it's probably best known for its legacy trees. Activities include basketball, horseshoes, and learning about the steam locomotive built for the Southern Pacific Railroad in 1912. The park welcomes visitors daily between sunrise and 10:00 p.m.
When you would rather spend time indoors, head to an arcade to play all of your childhood favorites. Finally, to learn more about calling Cadia Crossing home, please contact us. Our team would love to show you firsthand everything our apartments in Gilbert have to offer.
