Nestled in the heart of Northern Arizona, the Bearizona Wildlife Park features North American animals in native environments. Visitors can explore this fascinating park on foot or from the comfort of their cars. Here is some of what the park has to offer near our Flagstaff apartments.
North American River Otter
Charming creatures, North American river otters are the only river otters found north of Mexico. They're most active between dusk and dawn. In the winter months, they may be spotted more during the day. In the wild, North American river otters create dens in riverside burrows and eat marine animals like turtles, crabs, and crayfish.
American Badger
Known for their digging skills, American badgers have long front claws and back claws that resemble shovels. They're intelligent and outgoing. These animals live between 15 and 20 years and sleep in underground burrows by day and hunt by night. At Bearizona, you'll meet Frank and Annie. They're found near the fox exhibit.
Arctic Wolf
Famous for their spine-tingling howls, arctic wolves are majestic animals that live in the harshest climate of all wolves. Their light coloring helps them blend into their snowy surroundings. These wolves roam in Northern Alaska and Canada and spend up to five months every year in 24-hour darkness.
North American Porcupine
Slow-moving, North American porcupines have short legs and heavy builds. They're excellent climbers and spend their days perched high in trees. During the winter months, they eat tree bark, but during the rest of the year, they consume leaves, twigs, and fruit.
