With summer at its peak, you may be looking for a place to cool off! While Chandler has several public pools and spray grounds to help cool you off, there are also three water parks a short drive from your apartment home at Vive.
So, if you are looking for more thrill than the pool can provide, try these locations:
Big Surf is just 20 minutes from Vive, and it's celebrating its 50th anniversary this year! You don't have to go all the way to Hawaii to surf at Waikiki Beach; Big Surf features a 2.5 million gallon pool with the same name. Rafts, boogie boards, and surfboards are available for rent. In addition to the wave pool, Big Surf has a ton of slides for exhilarating rides. There's also a great kid-friendly area.
Admission is $34 (plus tax) for patrons over 48 inches. The park is open daily from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. every day but Sundays when they open at 11 a.m. There are also extended hours until 9 p.m. on Fridays in June and July.
Note that only sealed bottles of plain water are allowed into the park. They sell pizza, sandwiches, chicken strips, burgers, ice cream, and more inside. Tahiti Phil's also offers a full-service bar with cocktails and beer.
Oasis Water Park
Arizona Grand Resort & Spa's Oasis Water Park was voted one of the top water parks in the entire United States, and it's only 20 minutes from Vive! Unfortunately, you have to be a guest of the resort to enjoy the water park. However, this can be a fantastic staycation for you and your family or friends. The advantage of a water park reserved for guests is that the attractions are less crowded than most. You can soak in the 25-person hot tub, slip down one of three water slides, or relax and float down the lazy river. They also have a large wave pool and an area for kids. Room rates are typically around $200 per night.
You may remember it as Wet N Wild Phoenix, but Six Flags recently purchased the park and renamed it Hurricane Harbor. With a 45 minute drive, Hurricane Harbor is the furthest water park from Vive, but it's also the largest. The 35-acre park features several extremely thrilling rides, including one that was voted a top 5 water slide by Travel Channel's "Extreme Waterparks." Looking for a lazy river or wave pool? Hurricane Harbor has those too!
Admission starts at $37.99 for an adult ticket. Parking costs an additional $15. Hours vary daily but the season goes all the way until October, so a season pass may be worth the cost. You'll be able to enjoy perks such as bringing a friend, discounts on food and merchandise, and admission to other Six Flags parks.
