Gilbert Historical Museum
The Gilbert Historical Museum has been the community's center since the early 1980s, and it's found inside the original Gilbert Elementary School which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
As visitors explore the newly remodeled exhibits, they discover the fascinating history that each room holds.
One of the highlights is the Military exhibit that honors the residents who have proudly served our country. It offers a unique local perspective on both World Wars as well as the Korean and Vietnam Wars, and the display includes flags, trunks, uniforms, and so much more.
Tempe History Museum
At the Tempe History Museum, visitors explore the city's past, share its present, and imagine the future.
The staff works closely with Tempe's residents to preserve and tell their stories, and the main exhibition hall is entitled Tempe: Distinct, Diverse, Dynamic. It explores the city's story centering on four themes: Building Our Community, Surviving the Desert, Living Together, and College Town. Highlights include photographs, old vehicles, and sculptures.
Mesa Historical Museum
The Mesa Historical Museum opened in 1987, and it's dedicated to exploring and preserving regional heritage.
It's open Wednesday through Saturday, and visitors can enjoy the current exhibit Making Mesa Home. It takes an in-depth look at what makes a home for each individual and how your home contributes to the community. Highlights include personal stories from Mesa residents and interactive chalkboards.
