Houston's steakhouses are known for their traditional menus and unparalleled service.
Those not to be missed include:
Taste of Texas
Known for setting the standard in steakhouse excellence, the Taste of Texas has been a Houston landmark since 1977. Owned by Edd and Nina Hendee, it's the largest independently owned restaurant in the state. The dining area features a rustic atmosphere with exposed brick, dark wood, and a fireplace, and it's perfect for date night or a fun evening with friends. In the kitchen, the chefs, prepare steaks such as New York strip, Porterhouse steak, and center cut filet. All can be enjoyed with sides such as baked sweet potatoes and fresh asparagus with hollandaise.
Steak 48 is an upscale restaurant known for serving the best USDA prime steaks. The in-house butcher shop is always kept at forty degrees, and the master butchers cut the 28-day wet-aged dry steaks by hand. They cook them in an 1800 degree boiler, and most of the beef comes from farms in Michigan and Wisconsin. The modern interior features candlelit tables and a fireplace, while the quaint patio offers scenic views and lush greenery. Guests can watch the chefs at work in the open kitchen, and the menu includes filet mignon, NY strip, and domestic Wagyu filet.
Brenner's Steakhouse on the Bayou
Named the "Best Steakhouse in Houston" by Zagat, Brenner's is nestled in a wooded retreat on Buffalo Bayou. The dramatic two-story dining room features stunning views of the garden complete with colorful flowers and a cascading waterfall. Executive Chef Ryan Braden prepares an array of tender steaks including New York Strip, center-cut filet, and prime ribeye.
