Houston is home to an array of great parks, and those you don't want to miss exploring on a sunny day include:
Nestled in the heart of the city, Hermann Park welcomes approximately six million people annually. It was one of the first parks in Houston and provides plenty of greenspace so residents can enjoy the outdoors with family and friends. The Hermann Park Conservancy is already envisioning the next twenty years, and visitors can enjoy an array of activities and attractions such as pedal boating, the Hawkins Sculpture Walk, and the McGovern Centennial Gardens.
Known for enriching lives in Houston, the mission of Discovery Green is to operate an urban park that serves as a village green. It spans twelve acres and features tree-lined walks that lead to a tranquil pond and grassy slopes that offer picturesque views of downtown. Activities include bocce ball, shuffleboard, and kayaking on Kinder Lake.
As the largest urban park in the state, Memorial Park encompasses more than 1,400 acres and welcomes more than four million visitors every year. The Memorial Park Conservancy believes that the quality of life in Houston is impacted by the quality of its parks, and works to restore and preserve it for future generations. In the early 1900s, the property was the site of the Camp Logan military base, and today, it offers something for everyone. Activities include swimming, hiking, and mountain biking. The park is also home to one of the best municipal golf courses in the United States, and more than 65,000 golfers tee off annually.
