If you enjoy art, music, and food, don't miss the Bayou City Art Festival.
Established in 1972, it's one of the top art festivals in the United States with more than three hundred artists who work in nineteen mediums.
The fun takes place March 23rd through 25th, and highlights include:
This year's featured artist is Lisa Telling Kattenbraker who hails from Olympia, Washington. She works in the medium of batik and is known for creating emotive visual stories. Lisa was introduced to batik in high school, and it involves an evocative process of tightly woven fabric that has been prepped to accept waxes and dyes.
Sixteen food trucks will be on hand to serve delicious meals and delectable treats, including:
Churrasco - Churrasco is a locally owned family business where every meal is cooked with love and passion. All of the dishes feature Brazilian flavors, and the sandwiches are not to be missed. Choices include honey mint lamb, Parmesan pork tenderloin, and meat lovers (a customer favorite).
The Baker's Man - The Baker's Man is a small mom and pop business that specializes in miniature bundt cakes. They're made fresh daily, and flavors include carrot, lemon, and red velvet.
A variety of performers will take to the festival's stage such as:
Zachary Lerner - Zachary Lerner's musical career began in the U.S. Army's 101st Airborne Division Band where he reached the rank of Sergeant. He has since performed internationally with renowned blues artist Hamilton Loomis, and during the event, he'll entertain audiences with his trumpet-playing skills.
Jacob Ryan Marshall - Jacob is a singer/songwriter who picked up a guitar when he was three years old. Ten years, later, he began playing at open mic nights around the city, and today his fans can watch him perform on a regular basis around town. His repertoire includes "Roam," "Wonder," and "Train."
