Whether you prefer fat burritos stuffed with black beans, or smaller tacos layered with carne asada and cheese, there's a new restaurant you need to visit in Savannah: Tulum Cantina.
Here's what you can look forward to:
Tulum Cantina is a creative new Mexican and Latina American restaurant that serves a bit of everything from tapas to street tacos. The interior of the dining room is simply gorgeous; it's dimly lit and decorated with bright and festive artwork. The owners were inspired by the sustainable living practices and culture they discovered on the Mayan Peninsula. They've also drawn on influences from American and Japanese cuisine to create their unique menu.
The dining room at Tulum Cantina has a unique, soothing scent. This scent comes from copal, which is a tree resin that the Mayans traditionally used to calm the soul.
The menu at Tulum Cantina starts with a selection of tapas, such as Flying Elote, which is grilled corn with lime, cojita cheese, and chile-lime powder. Guests also live the Queso Fonduta, which is a white cheese served with chorizo and herbs.
For your main dish, you can't go wrong with a few tacos stuffed with either short rib, al pastor pork, or baja fish. Add avocado crema to your tacos for something extra special. The restaurant also offers a delicious Banana Leaf Cobia, which features fresh cobia wrapped in banana leaves with sticky rice and veggies.
Tacos are better when paired with tequila. Try your tequila in the Horseshoe Margarita, made with Herradura Silver, lime, and agave. If you like mezcal, you should try the Tulum Mezcal Margarita, which features hints of cucumber and rosemary.
Tulum Cantina is open for lunch and dinner Friday - Sunday, and for dinner only on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. They're located at 606 Abercorn St., so stop in soon, and contact us if you're looking for a new home nearby.
