If you want to enjoy a meal while watching a beautiful sunset, head to one of the following restaurants:
Located inside a restored 1820s King Cotton warehouse, River House is known for offering Savannah's quintessential fine dining experience. As guests enjoy the picturesque views of the sunset and passing ships, they can sip the restaurant's famous Chatham Artillery Punch made from a recipe that dates back to the Colonial era. The staff strives to provide outstanding service, while the chefs create exceptional cuisine. Menu items include filet mignon, red snapper, and southern fried chicken.
Love's Seafood & Steaks
Nestled along the banks of the Ogeechee River, Love's Seafood & Steaks offers a quaint, rustic atmosphere. Fans of the movie Forest Gump will recognize the restaurant as it was one of the filming locations, and in 2007, the eatery was named one of the "Top 25 Seafood Dives in the Coastal United States" by Coastal Living Magazine. Both the outdoor patio and enclosed glass porch provide views of the stunning sunsets, and at times, guests may even see an alligator or manatee. The menu includes Bubba Gump shrimp, Cajun catfish, and New York strip.
Vic's on the River
The building that houses Vic's has quite a history. Commissioned by John Stoddard in 1858, it was originally used as a warehouse before becoming the Steven Shipping Company. During the War Between the States, General Sherman's lesser officers used the building's empty offices for both housing and planning space, and today, the restaurant's main dining room features a hand-drawn map by Union Soldiers that was found during renovation in 1901. Guests enjoy the atmosphere, sunsets over the river, and meals such as pecan crusted flounder, braised short ribs, and fried double cut pork chops.
