It's open daily and strives to create a greater appreciation of the city's rich cultural heritage by preserving the Massie School as an interactive exhibit space.
Step into an authentic 1900s classroom to learn what classes were like at the turn of the century by practicing your handwriting, doing arithmetic on a slate board, and reading aloud from old schoolbooks. This exhibit also highlights the founding of the Massie School and the different purposes it has served since it opened.
The Debatable Lands: Native Americans of Coastal Georgia
The Debatable Lands exhibit examines an array of artifacts that chronicle more than ten thousand years of human existence in Georgia. It focuses on the history of the Native American people who called the region home before James Oglethorpe and the first English colonists arrived in 1733.
Savannah's Maritime History
Learn how the Savannah River has significantly influenced some of the city's historical developments while examining the handcrafted model ships that are on display. Built by the late M. Gerard Greco, the models are of ships that became famous between the 9th century and 20th century.
