Just a few minutes from The Mosaic in uptown Dallas, you will find the historic arts and entertainment district known as Deep Ellum.
Since as early as the 1920's, this neighborhood has been a mecca for some of the best blues and jazz artists in the nation. Although it was allowed to sink into poverty and high crime in the 1960's, this community is experiencing a resurgence. Thriving shopping, local restaurants, and plenty of live music are now the beating heart of the Deep Ellum district.
The Twilite Lounge is one venue in Deep Ellum that you don't want to miss. Opened in 2013, this surprisingly small space hosts live music from local as well as nationally renowned musicians – for free. Musicians Danny Balis and Jess Barr are responsible for putting together the cozy, dive bar atmosphere. Eclectic décor, with a definite lounge feel, and an upscale bar, has made this attraction very popular.
Speaking of the bar, they have a slew of top shelf spirits and a host of custom cocktails unique to this joint. A decent wine selection is available as well as 40 plus selections of local drafts, cans, and bottles.
Keep an eye out for live music events at the Twilite Lounge. Blues, Jazz, Americana and Rock are the primary genres covered at this club. Here are a few upcoming events:
February 23: Chris Watson Band
February 24: Jeremy Sinclair Quartet
February 28: DJ Chad Stockslager
