Simple, Healthy Breakfasts to Make in a Pinch

Often that first warm spring day has us wondering where our healthy diet and exercise plan we promised to stick to went. As much as we all want to live our best lives, busy schedules, long work days, and daily responsibilities can eat up all of our time and make it difficult to prepare healthy meals on a regular basis. Breakfast tends to be the most rushed meal of the day, as we’re racing around our homes trying to get out the door on time. If you’re sick of boring granola bars that leave you feeling starved by 10 AM, this week’s blog is for you. We’re sharing our favorite quick, easy, and nutritious breakfasts that’ll start your day on the right foot.

Homemade Smoothie

The juice craze has taken the world by storm, and while we can understand how they may seem overrated at this point, there’s a reason so many people have fallen in love with sipping their breakfast through a straw. However, when you whip up a smoothie or juice at home, you don’t have to pay high coffee shop premiums and be left in the dark about add-on sugars and ingredients. At home, simply stock up on our favorite produce, mix with your preferred nut milk and some ice, and take your breakfast to go. Overnight Oats

This one is great if you’re truly not a morning person, as you can fully prepare it the night before and take to go. Before you hit the hay at night, pour a cup of oats into your jar, cover with milk, and mix in fruit, chia seeds, peanut butter, or whatever you’re craving. Stir well, pop in the fridge, and let sit overnight. You’ll thank yourself in the morning.

Avocado Toast

Despite the recent buzz over this Instagram-friendly brunch option, it’s actually quite simple and budget-friendly to prepare for yourself at home. When you’re ready for breakfast in the morning, pop your favorite slice of bread in the toaster and while you wait for it to toast scoop out half an avocado and mash it up with a fork. You can add hot sauce, salt, and pepper for taste, or simply eat on its own. When your toast is up, spread evenly and enjoy. If you have a Trader Joe’s near you, we highly recommend topping off your toast with their cult classic “Everything-but-the-Bagel” seasoning mix.
