3 TV Shows to Watch for Interior Inspo

When looking to change up some aspects of your home, the information out there can be daunting and overwhelming. Whether you’re completely re-designing your interior, or are just looking to tweak a few decor aspects, there are about a million blogs and how-to’s out there on the internet. And while these can certainly be helpful, there’s something about seeing the before and after of a project, and being witness to how it all came together that can give us the push we really need to get going on the task. For precisely this reason, we’re huge fans of the recent uptick in interior design related TV. Today we’re highlighting the shows that are bringing us the most inspo in 2019.

Tidying Up with Marie Kondo

If you haven’t yet heard of Marie Kondo, her new Netflix show is the perfect opportunity to get on board. Kondo founded the KonMari method to de-cluttering the home, and has written four books on the subject before her Netflix show debuted just last week. Kondo’s method involves gathering all the items in your home by category, and keeping only the belongings that “spark joy”. If you’re skeptical, we urge you to watch the show, wherein she travels to participants’ homes and helps them to de-clutter their life. Her charming demeanor combined with this seemingly foolproof method provides for a fun watch as well as some serious inspiration to tidy up your space.

Queer Eye

The 2018 reboot of this early 2000’s reality show made a serious splash when it debuted last winter. If you’re not familiar, the show follows five fabulous hosts who, in a myriad of ways, help participants reboot their lifestyle; from wardrobe, to grooming, diet, culture, and interior design. Arguably the most breathtaking segment of the show is when designer Bobby Berk is left to his own devices and completely transforms the homes of these participants in the span of just a few days. Berk considers each individual’s preferences, interests, and personality, and gives their home a complete and total facelift. The before and after shots alone are worth it, and you may get some fresh ideas for how you’d like to make changes within your home.

Fixer Upper

This HGTV hit follows married couple Chip and Joanna Gaines, as they assist clients in buying and fixing up less-than-perfect homes. Chip takes the charge on construction and renovation, and Joanna comes in with impeccable taste to give the homes new life in the form of interior design and décor. If you’re an apartment-dweller, you may not exactly be looking to gut and renovate your space, but this charming pair can show you just how much potential can be found in virtually any home with the right amount of love and elbow grease.
