Celebrate Halloween Multi-Family Style

Celebrate Halloween Multi-Family Style

Everyone’s favorite holiday is right around the corner, and it’s time to start planning the spooky fall festivities. Nothing brings a neighborhood together quite like Halloween. There’s simply no age limit on creative costumes, sugary treats, and a good old-fashioned scare. The great thing about Halloween in a multi-family community is that almost everyone celebrates it, it’s not a big travel holiday, and it’s easy to get in the seasonal spirit, making it a celebration that can truly bring people together. Today we’re talking all about our favorite October ideas to bring the Halloween spirit to your neighborhood.

Costume Contest

Like we mentioned above, you’re never too old to appreciate a well-crafted costume. This season, let your residents know that you’ll be crowning one lucky community member with a costume-of-the-year award. Have your residents send in pictures of their Halloween get-up, and rate the selections based on creativity, craft, and accuracy. You can even go big and create different categories, like funniest, scariest, handmade, or most original. Award your winners with a gift card to a local restaurant, movie theatre, or shop, then feature your top picks in the resident lounge to encourage folks to get creative next year!

If your community includes families with small children, encourage group trick-or-treating as a way to develop and strengthen bonds amongst neighbors. Nothing brings children and their parents together like a classic night of getting dressed up to go trick-or-treating, and even residents without children can appreciate this. Remind your residents to have their candy baskets ready for the 31st, and make sure the clubhouse is well-stocked, too. You wouldn’t want to miss out on all the Halloween magic.

A Group-Wide Spook

Check your local area and see if there are any haunted houses, ghost tours, or spooky trails nearby, and if so, host a neighborhood outing to the closest Halloween event. While many may be busy on the night of Halloween, a weekend or two before the big day would be a great time to get the neighborhood together. Send out an email to your residents to garner interest, and then pick a date that works for most. You may even be able to get a group rate and a carpool going so that the outing is convenient and affordable for all.

Scary Movie Night

Nothing gets you in the Halloween spirit more than a scary movie. Choose one of the classics like Friday the 13th, Hocus Pocus, or Halloween, and get the community together for movie night in the clubhouse. Pop some popcorn, fill the candy bowls, and dim the lights for the perfect spooky ambience.
