5 Must-See Attractions near Spring, Texas

Prior to the establishment of the first trading post on the Spring River in 1838, the area we now know as Spring was primarily populated by Native Americans. When the railroad came to town in 1871, the area experienced a mighty boom. If you're looking for good times near your home at Olympus Auburn Lakes, you'll find plenty of fun things to do in Spring, Texas.

Houston Ghost Tour

If you enjoy spooky events, you won't want to miss the HGT's most popular tour. Open year 'round, the walking tour meets in front of Sedona Joe's in Old Town Spring and proceeds along the most haunted stretch of Main Street. There's no weirder way to learn the unknown history of a town than through its ghosts, and Houston Ghost Tours makes sure every apparition counts.

Atkinson Farms

If you're all about doing things yourself, give DIY fruit picking a try. Atkinson Farms offers the freshest produce this side of the Pecos from March 1 through Halloween. In springtime, visit the farm to fill your basket with ripe red strawberries.

National Museum of Funeral History

If you're up for an offbeat adventure, you could do worse than to spend a few hours at this super-educational exhibit of all things funerary. Here you can learn everything there is to know about the rich history of death and burial. Find the museum at 415 Barren Springs Drive in nearby Houston.

Spring Antique Mall

Want to outfit your Auburn Lakes home with authentic antiques? This massive mall at Hwy. 145 and Spring Cypress Road boasts more than 10,000 square feet of display space where dozens of vendors show and sell their wonderful wares. Get there early for complimentary coffee and cookies.

Mercer Arboretum and Botanical Gardens

This splendid nature destination sits a mere 11 minutes north of Olympus Auburn Lakes in the charming town of Humble. Here you can meander along miles of manicured trails to observe a remarkable variety of native flowers and trees. Although the park was severely damaged in a 2016 hurricane, the arboretum and gardens officially reopened on March 17, 2018. To support the rebuilding effort, be sure to visit the Mercer Society gift and plant shop in Old Town Spring.
