A quick drive from our Casper apartments is a lively destination that collects and exhibits works of contemporary artists. We are talking about the Nicolaysen Art Museum, and it strives to be the "cultural anchor for our community." The museum offers fascinating exhibits and always features new artists to discover. Here are a few of the creators currently on display:

David McDougall

A guide around Wyoming's Big Horn Mountains, David McDougall gains recognition for his colorful acrylic riverscapes and fly-fishing scenes. He also creates using charcoal, pastels, and watercolors and often makes his own frames. David lives in Dayton, where he and his wife are known for owning the Painted Skull Studio. It is found on the homestead of 1930s artist Hans Kleiber, and the couple's mission is to preserve the historical setting.

Amber Marie

Raised in the Pacific Northwest, Amber Marie became passionate about art at a young age. As a teenager, she decided to become a comic book artist but later discovered the power of portraits. Today, she creates bold pieces with acrylic paint or colored pencils on wood or paper. When Amber Marie isn't producing unique art, she works in arts administration doing curation and event management.

Anton Fox

Anton Fox has called Wyoming home for the last 44 years. He retired from the Casper Fire Department and spends his days creating small hard-edge paintings. Anton often uses bright colors. He's intrigued by the use of spare geometric designs and strives to provoke and captivate his viewers.
