While Wyoming doesn’t have any professional teams to call its own, we’re not short on sports teams here in the Cowboy State. So come out and support these home-state squads!
Yellowstone Quakes, Sheridan Hawks, Gillette Wild
Ice Hockey
Wyoming has not one, not two, but three teams in the NA3HL’s Frontier Division – the Gillette Wild, the Sheridan Hawks, and the Yellowstone Quakes in Cody. If you’re not familiar with the NA3HL, it stands for North American 3 Hockey League, and, as an American Tier III junior ice hockey circuit, it features some high-level talent. So be sure to check out one of Wyoming’s teams this fall and winter.
Wyoming Mustangs
Indoor Football
A Wyoming Mustangs game is a must-see if you’re into football. The Champions Indoor Football league’s fun, fast-paced brand of football makes the 125-mile drive to Gillette well worth it. Don’t believe us? Check out some of the league’s highlights from this past season. Watch for the Mustangs and their league mates return to the turf in the spring.
Casper Horseheads
Collegiate Baseball
You’ll have to wait until next summer to cheer on the Horseheads, Casper’s team in the Expedition League, a wooden-bat collegiate baseball league. Horsehead home games, played at Mike Lansing Field, are a blast and feature players from colleges throughout the country. Catch them at Mike Lansing Field. You can even preorder season tickets for next season already!
University of Wyoming
That’s right. We love our Cowboys and Cowgirls here in Wyoming. Head to Laramie to watch University of Wyoming athletic teams compete at various venues throughout campus. The school fields 17 NCAA-sanction sports teams, so there’s plenty to choose from. You never know when you might catch the next Josh Allen up close and in person!
Denver Broncos, Colorado Rockies & Denver Nuggets
So we’re stretching the rules a bit here, as the Broncos, Rockies, and Nuggets are professional and they’re not actually in Wyoming. But they’re the closest professional sports teams we’ve got – all about a four-hour drive away!
