Our furry friends are part of our pack and as such, it is important to many to have the opportunity to bring them with us on vacation. Here are a few places in Wyoming where your dog will be welcome.

Yellowstone National Park

While Yellowstone isn’t fully accessible to your dog, they are welcome in some areas. You’ll have to make sure your pup is on a leash at all times and remains in designated areas near roads, parking areas, and campgrounds. Due to the amount of traffic and potential danger of having dogs on the trails, they are not allowed to accompany you on hikes, but you can take your dog camping or for a road trip as you sightsee from the comfort of your car.

Cody

This historic town, known as the gateway to Yellowstone, was founded by its namesake, Buffalo Bill Cody. It’s filled with pet-friendly restaurants and coffee shops like Rawhide Coffee Co. and Buffalo Bill’s Restaurant & Saloon at the Irma Hotel. You can take a Cody Trolley Tour and see the “Best of the West,” or their seasonal offerings – and yes, your well-behaved, leashed pup is welcome. Or head out into the wild – rafting, hiking, etc. – with Cody Wyoming Adventures, which welcomes friendly dogs under some circumstances.

Laramie

The home of the University of Wyoming, this mountain town is full of culture, education, and outdoor adventure. It’s the perfect place to go to spend some time in some of Wyoming’s most majestic scenery. Head out to Medicine Bow National Forest – try the Peak Trail for a short hike, or the Browns Peak Loop for a challenging 13-mile trek and stunning views. The town offers beautiful dog parks, as well, like Optimist and Sandy Aragon. When you’re done having fun in the sun, you can head over to one of their dog-friendly restaurants like the Rib & Chop House or the Turtle Rock Coffee & Café, put up your feet, and have a well-deserved (and delicious) Laramie-style meal.

Cheyenne

Head over the capital for a perfect blend of urban and outdoor fun. Visit the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens which welcome your four-legged companions. Take a hike at Curt Gowdy State Park. Or stay in town and explore their 39-mile Greenway, which connects schools, hotels, parks, and neighborhoods.
