BELLS CANYON TRAIL
Nestled at the mouth of Little Cottonwood Canyon, Bells Canyon is one of the most popular hikes in Salt Lake City. Along the way, hikers enjoy views of the Wasatch Mountains and Lone Peak Wilderness. The colors are vibrant in the fall, and large granite boulders offer the perfect place to enjoy a snack. The trail leads to two waterfalls, and visitors often bring their rods for catch-and-release fishing.
CECRET LAKE
Found the top of Little Cottonwood Canyon, Cecret Lake is one of the most well-known hikes in the Wasatch Mountains. Devil's Castle is seen to the east, while Mount Wolverine proudly stands to the north. Hikers commonly spot moose, hawks, and hummingbirds. The path is steep in sections and spans 1.6 miles.
DONUT FALLS
Donut Falls takes hikers through a spruce forest and open meadows. It leads to a unique waterfall that drops through a hole in the rock and into a small cave. The stream and drainage follow a route known as Mill D South Fork. The alphabetical naming system dates back to 1850s when sawmills stood at the mouth of each drainage.
LAKE BLANCHE TRAIL
Hikers looking for a longer adventure won't want to miss the Lake Blanche Trail. The ascent is steep, and a towering peak is found about the four-mile mark. It's known as the Sundial, and it reflects off the water below. The grade increases during the last third of the hike, and the trail ends at close to 9,000 feet.
