For more than a century, Utah Food Bank has fed hungry families. There are a number of ways you can help this philanthropic organization fulfill its mission to fill the bellies of those in need. Donating is one. Another way to help – and have a little fun along the way – is to participate in its annual events. Here are four Utah Food Bank events to watch for in 2021.
Night NOT at the Warehouse
When: Spring
This special night is typically held at Utah Food Bank’s Salt Lake City warehouse, but these are not typical times. This annual fundraiser, which rakes in about $150,000 each year, is traditionally a night filled with pageantry and festivities, including dinner, live and silent actions, and more. Last year’s event went virtual with an online auction – and it’ll remain virtual for at least one more year. If you have any items to donate, contact the food bank at communications@utahfoodbank.org. If you don’t, be sure to get in on the bidding and score an amazing item while donating to an amazing cause. Stay tuned for updates as spring approaches.
Driving Out Hunger Golf Tournament
When & Where: June 14, Willow Creek Country Club, Sandy
Is golf your game? Break out your clubs and help feed those in need at Willow Creek Country Club this June. Find a partner – or three – and sign up for this scramble-format tournament in Sandy. Find all the details here.
Hunger Action Month
September
Every September, Utah Food Bank participates in this nationwide campaign designed to raise awareness and drive action on the issue of hunger. How you participate is up to you. Make a donation to Utah Food Bank or another organization. Create or join in on a social media awareness campaign or fundraiser. Organize your own food drive. However you choose to participate in Hunger Action Month is up to you.
Utah Human Race
When & Where: Nov. 1-27, wherever you want it be
The 2020 version of the Utah Human Race went virtual – and remained as popular as ever. The hope is to return to an in-person version of the race, typically held Thanksgiving morning in Draper, in 2021. But you’ll still be able to race virtually if you wish. Choose from 5K or 10K options and “run with an attitude of gratitude.” Stay tuned for details as race day nears.
Why Giving to Utah Food Bank is Important
Last year, Utah Food Bank distributed 44.1 million meals statewide through its network of more than 200 partner agencies. That’s a lot of meals. Join the fight against hunger and help them by donating food, time, or money today.
