The long days of summer are so pleasant – except for the pesky heat! When you’re in need of a good cool down – and a little fun, too – try one of these local hangouts to make your summer a lot more enjoyable.
West Beach Park
This beautiful park in the Daybreak community is perfect for an evening stroll. It has gorgeous views of Lake Oquirrh and plenty of places to stop and take a breath of that fresh Utah air.
Oquirrh Shadows Park Splash Pad
Located on South Jordan Parkway, this public park features a huge splash pad. Throw on your bathing suit and take a very slow walk through the water features. It’s the perfect place to cool down on a scorching hot day, if you don’t mind getting a little wet.
Cowabunga Bay Water Park
Have you heard of the Cowabunga River? You might not find it on a map, but if you head over to this water park, you won’t be able to miss it. Enjoy 600 feet of this gentle “river” while relaxing on an inner tube. And unlike tubing on a real river, this one will definitely keep you cool with its water features that spray visitors with a refreshing shower. And don’t forget to try the 11 water slides, one of which is 1,000 feet of dark tube, making for a thrilling ride to the wading pool below!
Eastlake Commons
How about working up a sweat before you chill so you can really emphasize that cooldown? Play a round of tennis at this Daybreak park and then take a dip in the pool. Or just head straight for the pool. (We won’t tell.)
South Jordan Fitness & Aquatics Center
Speaking of pools … head over to this fitness center and do some laps in the pool. It’s a great way to get in your summer workouts without having to deal with the hot summer sun. You can also enjoy fitness, dance, and martial arts classes throughout the season in blissfully air conditioned studios.
