Have you ever imagined what it might be like to live out one of those fantasy stories about entering a magical world through a painting or traveling down a rabbit hole and finding yourself in an alternate reality full of fascinating things to explore?
Well, now you can. Salt Lake City’s Dreamscapes will allow you to walk into a world of art, to interact with it, and even become part of the artistic experience.
Here’s what you need to know.
The Why
While visiting galleries and museums is often a unique, educational, and satisfying experience, there is one thing that defines it – the visitor (you) is outside looking in. You cannot touch the canvases or exhibits. You are simply observing.
At Dreamscapes, that barrier has been removed, creating a totally immersive experience for visitors. You are part of the “dreamscape.” You become an active participant, exploring what they call their “subconscious labyrinth” in which you can “move through the colorful vignettes that change the way you experience art.”
The Who
More than 100 Utah-based artists, builders, and volunteers have contributed to this experiential artistic opportunity. Local partners donate materials, which are repurposed into the art and exhibits showcased at Dreamscapes. Together, these participants have created “Utah’s first environmentally sustainable immersive art attraction.”
The How
Buying tickets couldn’t be easier. You can purchase them online or from the front desk, though walk-ins are not guaranteed admission. They are open for tours from Thursday through Sunday, each one taking approximately 45 minutes to an hour.
The Extras
Dreamscapes also offers performance art. You can follow their social media accounts or check their events calendar for more information on performances and live music. It’s a great way to support Utah artists.
