Mountain biking is a fabulous way to get some exercise while at the same time enjoying the outdoors.
If this sounds good to you, the best mountain bike trails around South Jordan include:
TIBBLE FORK TRAIL
Used almost exclusively as a downhill route, Tibble Fork stretches 3.3 miles through the American Fork Canyon. It features a combination of mature fir forests, scrub oaks, meadows, and alpine groves. Tibble Fork dries out a little later than the other trails in the canyon, and portions of the path are snowbound until late June or early July. This adventure is for experts or upper intermediate cyclists.
MILL CREEK PIPELINE TRAIL
Mill Creek is a singletrack trail that runs through Salt Lake City's Mill Creek Canyon. It makes for the perfect early season ride, and much of the path consists of smooth hard-pack dirt. Along the way, riders find plenty of shade as well as steep hills and beautiful views.
WILD ROSE LOOP TRAIL
Wild Rose sits in the steep foothills of the North Salt Lake Bench. The Wild Rose Loop is the main trail, and early on, it offers scenic views of the Englewood Golf Course. The track is both broad and smooth, and it climbs 400 vertical feet to a top altitude of 5,500. As the path climbs around the steep mountainside, cyclists enjoy a picturesque ride through a maple forest.
WASATCH CREST TRAIL
With steep hills and a few tricky sections, the Wasatch Crest Trail provides a fun, challenging ride. The trail meanders through sun-dappled woods and across basins and is suited for intermediate and advanced cyclists. This path is part of the Great Western Trail which spans 3,000 miles from Canada to Mexico.
