Are you looking for something different to do on the weekends?
If so, consider volunteering.
It's a great way to give back to the community while at the same learning new skills and meeting new people.
Opportunities around South Jordan include:
UTAH FOOD BANK
The Utah Food Bank has helped fight hunger statewide since 1904. This nonprofit organization works tirelessly to provide nutritious food, and last year, it distributed 36.1 million meals to those in need.
Volunteers are always welcome, and on Saturdays, they can donate their time between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Opportunities include sorting donations, assembling food boxes, and making deliveries.
AMERICAN RED CROSS
Utah's American Red Cross serves more than 2.8 million people and covers nearly 85,000 square miles. Through generous donations of time and money, it's able to teach lifesaving skills, assist members of the armed forces, and offer shelter after natural disasters.
Adult volunteers can choose an area of interest, and hours are flexible. Opportunities include community disaster education, media relations, and Blood Donor Ambassador.
PRIMARY CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL
Primary is one of the best children's hospitals in the United States. For more than 95 years, it has provided unparalleled care to patients with complex illnesses and injuries. The hospital features more than 60 medical and surgical specialties, and it's the only Level I pediatric trauma center serving a five-state region.
The volunteers play an integral role in helping the hospital deliver the highest level of quality care. They represent diverse backgrounds and work at least one three-hour shift per week. Volunteers can work in several areas including the information desk, emergency department, and Children's Outpatient Rehabilitation Services.
