It’s that time of year to celebrate all things Utah at the Utah State Fair! This year, it runs from Sept. 9 through 19, a half-hour away in Salt Lake City. You can buy your passes on their website. And you’ll definitely want to start planning now, because there is so much to do this year. Here are a few things to put on your must-see list.
Beef Feast
We know – we had you at Beef Feast. Be sure to put this in your calendar for Friday, Sept. 17, at 11 AM. The fair’s grillmasters will be serving up beef tenderloin steak sandwiches – each for only $8. They’ll keep going until they run out, so be sure to get there early!
The Butter Cow
You simply must stop by and see the famous butter sculpture that is featured at the fair each year. Artists Debbie Brown and Matt McNaughtan spend 80 hours on these sculptures, which typically use 600 to 800 pounds of butter. But sure to check it out and learn a little more about the importance of Utah agriculture while you’re there.
Nerveless Nocks
You will have to see this aerial stunt show to believe it. Hanging upside at dizzying heights, performing at the top of sway poles, riding in the Cage of Death … this show has been called a feast of extreme aerial daredevilry. Check out their performance schedule and catch one of their shows, if you can handle it.
Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show
You’ll laugh. You’ll learn. This show will feature logging facts from the past as well as insights into the present-day industry. And of course, you’ll get to enjoy the games and competition – the “muscle against the machine,” as they say.
Live Music
The Utah State Fair has an unbelievable music lineup for the 2021 season. You’ll find lots of local and regional talent including Whitney Lusk, Jagertown, Vaudeville Nouveau, Mothers of Mayhem, and Utah Slim & the Desert Poets – and that’s just to name a few. Keep an eye on the South Plaza Stage for all the good music.
Wild West Laser Fast Draw
Have you ever wanted to see how you would have fared in a gunfight? Check out this laser gun game to see just how fast your draw is.
